This summer PRS is saying thank you to everyone who buys a NEW PRS Archon amplifier and/or a NEW PRS Custom 24 guitar* with a unique gift. In continued celebration of our 30th Anniversary, we are commemorating the model that started it all – the Custom 24.
PRS Guitars is proud to officially announce four SE Standard models, bringing the brand’s guitars to an exciting new price range. The all-mahogany SE Standards are designed to be the go-to instrument for beginning guitarists and budget-conscious players and will start at $499 USD. The most affordable PRS guitars to date, SE Standards are modeled after some of PRS’s most popular designs and carry familiar PRS appointments, including bird inlays, PRS stoptail and tremolo bridge designs, and a high-quality SE gig bag. All four models also share the classic combination of all-mahogany bodies (reminiscent of Paul’s pre-factory guitars) and set mahogany necks with rosewood fretboards. The four new SE Standard models are: the SE Standard 24, the SE Standard 22, the SE Standard 245, and the SE Santana Standard.
For the second consecutive year, PRS Guitars, a leading US manufacturer of high quality electric and acoustic guitars, is teaming up with the Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys. As the exclusive acoustic guitar of the summer-long festival, PRS Guitars will be activating in Warped’s Acoustic Basement at forty+ concert events this summer, starting on June 17 in Anchorage, Alaska, traversing the USA, and culminating in a final concert on August 8 in Auburn, WA. PRS also has planned a special appearance at the July 18 Columbia, Maryland event where the Maryland guitar manufacturer plans to let concert goers see and play a variety of PRS Acoustic guitars including the newly introduced SE A10E and SE Alex Lifeson signature acoustics.
To continue the celebration of their 30th Anniversary, PRS Guitars is announcing two new limited edition models: the 30th Anniversary “Lefty” Custom 24 and the 30th Anniversary SE Custom 24 with flame maple veneer. These two models proudly celebrate the quality, innovation, and history of PRS Guitars through the Custom 24 platform. The Custom 24 is the original PRS - it defines the playability and tone that PRS guitars are known for and has been a constant favorite of players worldwide ever since its official introduction in 1985.
PRS Guitars is pleased to continue their relationship with Alex Lifeson of Rush with the announcement of an all-new SE thinline acoustic signature model. The SE Alex Lifeson Thinline acoustic is a road-worthy guitar for players in need of a stage- and studio-ready instrument. Carrying over its unique appointments from the Private Stock Alex Lifeson acoustic, this model features a thinner body depth than PRS’s standard Angelus model and the “Birds in Flight” inlay design.
PRS Guitars is pleased to announce the newest addition to the S2 Series: the S2 Vela. The Vela model follows in the tradition of the company’s Mira and Starla models, providing vintage-inspired personality and tons of tonal textures.
For the second consecutive year, PRS Guitars is the official sponsor of the SXSW “Shred Shed,” a large soundproof space at the 2015 SXSW Music Expo. PRS will have the latest guitars, basses and amplifiers available and invites SXSW visitors to walk in the Shred Shed, shut the door and crank up the volume. Located in the Austin Convention Center Exhibit Hall 5, the PRS Shred Shed is also a great place to chat with PRS staff and PRS SXSW showcasing artists while seeing and playing the latest PRS gear.
As a teenager, Paul Reed Smith dreamed of building guitars decorated with European-style dragons. Paul’s dream became reality in 1992 when he unveiled his first limited edition Dragon guitar. Since that time, PRS Guitars has introduced only seven Dragon editions, each in very limited numbers. These guitars have become among the most desirable instruments in the company’s history, earning their place in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, DC, the Musical Instruments Museum, in Phoenix, Arizona, and the National Guitar Museum, a traveling exhibit now located at the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey. This year for PRS Guitar's 30th Anniversary, the 8th Dragon guitar will be released.
The band Periphery has become a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal scene with their unique “djent” sound, poly-rhythmic patterns and soaring melodies. Guitarist Mark Holcomb helps achieve this full, lethal sound with PRS guitars loaded with Seymour Duncan Mark Holcomb Signature Pickups dubbed “Alpha” and “Omega.” In conjunction with Periphery’s 2015 Juggernaut tour, Holcomb and PRS have joined forces to produce a limited edition signature model based on the company’s flagship Custom 24 model and personalized with some unique, artist-specified features that deliver a bold, impressive sound.
Weeks before announcing their 2015 line up, PRS Guitars is introducing three new all-mahogany S2 Series guitars: the S2 Standard 24, S2 Standard 22, and S2 Singlecut Standard. The original PRS Standard, introduced in 1987, evolved from Paul Reed Smith’s Pre-Factory all-mahogany instruments. Reimagined for the S2 Series, these guitars feature the subtle aesthetic of mahogany and pickguard-mounted electronics for a vintage vibe with modern versatility and playability that is perfect for the gigging musician. All three models have solid mahogany bodies, set mahogany necks, versatile electronics, and tried-and-true PRS quality.
